Buffalo is a warm season grass and has a very broad leaf structure. This grass has softer leaf than the old variety of buffalo. It has a shade tolerance therefore is ideal for shady areas around the home.

Advantages

• Very low shade adaptation
• Low growth rate (less mowing)
• Low nitrogen requirements
• Reasonably drought tolerant
• Less invasive into gardens

Disadvantages

• Establishment rate slow from stolons
• Prone to thatch build-up (becomes spongy)
• Susceptible to most herbicides (harder to control weeds)
